summer
2004 rescues!
and this is just the tip of
the iceberg! There are Rottweilers in every shelter of our country. Most
do not make it out alive!
LETS MEET
SOME OF THEM...
luger, reene
and pepsi!
We are in
Miami Dade County at a clinic. Miami Dade Animal services came to our rescue! We
were left in a small pen for about two months. A neighbor was feeding us and
giving us water.
I, LUGER,
will introduce you to my wife and child.
That's me, above! I am a good boy who loves everyone. I was praying for
someone to come and get us out of that hell we were in. The space for all
three of us was too small. Summer in Miami is extremely hot. The day they
came to our rescue, a lady brought a bag of ice and food!
Oh my! She
was an angel. We went after that ice immediately! And then, came
food!
I tried very
hard to tell all those people staring at us that
WE WERE GOOD, YES, WE WERE GOOD!
My wife,
PEPSI, was the one doing all the talking. We know, women do all the talking.
I was WAGGING MY TAIL! I wanted OUT OF THERE sooo bad!

Let me
introduce you to PEPSI.
She is a beauty and I love her sooo much.
Yes, it was
me making all the noise. I wasn't sure the people standing there were
going to help us. I needed to defend my family. But, after THAT ICE!
Wow! that changed my mind!
LUGER and I
have a daughter. Her name is REENE.
Poor Reene,
when she was born I was hoping for her to find a home of her own. Ours was
not good! We never had any human love, we were there in the backyard and
were told to have "more" kids. We found out that our owner SOLD
our babies. I wish REENE was too.

Meet our
daughter REENE
Hi, I am REENE. I
am about a year old. I am so happy to be with my Mom and Dad out of that
kennel!
I am now at a clinic, for the first time in my life, I am in a COOL
PLACE. I hear it is called AC.
I am happy,
but worried. What is going to happen to us?
Are we going
to be separated? I want to stay with Mom and Dad. Oh, I am going to talk to God
tonight when I go to bed.

BUT GOD HAD PLANS FOR
THEM

Grace Acosta writes...
DEAR ALL... listen. All it takes is a
YES to the MASTER. Sometimes I feel he is "testing" us.
But, once we close our eyes, open our hearts and say YES... it all finds a
way.
Today, another miracle happened. Some
might think I am too crazy, but it did happen.
LUGER, PEPSI AND REENE were three
Rottweilers abandoned. ANIMAL CONTROL asked me to come out with them and
Animal Planet to test the temperament of the dogs. Some of you might have seen
the AP episode in Miami where a Rottweiler bit the officer twice. I guess AC
did not want another similar incident while Animal Planet was filming.
The TRIO was in bad shape, housed in a small
kennel, full excrement, no water and flies everywhere. After some ICE
and DOG FOOD, the dogs showed some friendliness and were taken out of the
kennel and placed in the ANIMAL CONTROL truck (the dog catcher truck).
I asked ANIMAL CONTROL if we could take
charge of the TRIO. I was given the dogs and ANIMAL CONTROL took them to
our clinic, Mueller Animal Hospital.
The TRIO were checked, NO HW, but had
parasites and were very skinny. They were FIXED. After three or four
weeks at the clinic, and an increasing vet bill, I decided to bring LUGER AND
PEPSI home. I left REENE at
the vet. I was afraid of placing THREE on the run by my home and them
becoming a nuisance to my neighbor. TWO was enough, I thought.
A month has gone by. Every week Animal
Planet kept calling me, asking me if any adoption was in the near future.
And then, IT WAS TIME, IT WAS GOD'S TIME.
Three adopters, with Rottweiler experience, came to my home and the TRIO is
gone. The new homes had filled out the rescue application, the three had
a homecheck.
Virginia Gilliam went to the clinic this
morning and picked up Reene. She brought her here.
Yoly Ramirez also came and she took care of
all the paper work.
Animal Planet first filmed PEPSI and her new
Mom Doris Tennell who had driven 4-1/2 hours from Tampa to Miami!
Then REENE, new Dad Rafael Morejon, who has
an eleven year old rescue male adopted from me years ago.
And finally, the boy LUGER. He was
adopted by one of my school coaches, Lazaro Reinoso.
The adoption of the TRIO all happened on the
SAME DAY, within a three hour period. THREE HOURS OF FILMING in
the heat of mid day, 11 am to 2 pm.
Tell me, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THREE
ROTTWEILERS FOUND TOGETHER, KEPT TOGETHER FOR TWO MONTHS, TO BE ADOPTED ON THE
SAME DAY?
Honestly, I was NOT looking to have Animal
Planet come to my home on three different days!!! BUT, WHY
DID I WORRY??? WHO WAS IN CHARGE??? Not me, I know.
While all this was happening here in Miami,
another GRC member Linda Buttstead was doing a rescue near Tampa. She
was picking up an abused young female Rottweiler pup, with a tail. She
drove the girl, named ARAMI,
to her friend Wendy, and Wendy drove to THE ANIMAL SANCTUARY where another GRC
member Palena Dorsey welcomed the pup with her loving care.
Is that all? NOPE. An old lady in the
Redlands had rescued a male a year ago. She was asked to move by Monday.
This woman called me crying. She did not want to leave the dog in this rural
area. PATTY FISHER, a GRC member is picking up the dog tomorrow morning
and I will pick him up from Patty in the afternoon and will bring him
"home".
There is a call from mid florida telling me
there is a male who was found after the hurricane. He is in WAUCHULA.
Yes, same town where Diana Durrance is. I am working on this case. I
need more information and plan to see how we can get to him.
SO, expect a CALL for help GRC members.
Thank you, God.
