His name was BROWIE.

Update 12/20/01 at the bottom of the page
He came from the Broward County Animal Shelter. A woman I never met called me and told me this little 4 months "Rottweiler" was going to be put to sleep. I gave her my OK to bring him to our vet, Dr. Iglesias at Tropical Park Animal Hospital in Miami.
To my surprise, BROWIE was NOT a purebred Rottweiler. He was a mixed of Doberman and Rottweiler and he favored the Dobie look. BROWIE was full of mange and extremely ill. His cold was bad and we did not know at first if he was going to make it or no. He spent almost a month at the clinic. There he became the "pet" of the clinic staff. He was then named SMILEY!
Now his name is SMILEY

As soon as his cold got better I brought him home. I knew his mange was not sarcoptic mange and SMILEY began to share the home with my other dogs. A couple of dips and Smiley's coat began to show up. SMILEY was not a Rottweiler, he was not a Doberman either. Many times I thought "this one is going stay and live with me for the rest of his life". How wrong I was! I forget "Who" is really in charge.
An email came from a family wanting to adopt
a dog. They did not want a Rottweiler. Guess what they wanted? A
Rottweiler/Doberman mix! I couldn't believe it. The family had
recently lost their Rott/Dobe mix! They had been looking everywhere for a
dog with the similar look of their beloved pet.
The ABADIES
Brandon (18), Travis (7), Dad Mike, Mom Gwen and
Shane (4)
I wrote to them immediately and told them about SMILEY. The family was interested in adopting Smiley without even seeing him. They had been looking for so long for this dog. They sent me pictures of the family, of their pets and one picture in particular called my attention. That picture looked exactly like Smiley, except that the dog in the picture was older! Was this one more miracle? Was this one more time an adoption planned by God?
You go now and look at the pictures.
Enjoy reading the latest from Smiley's new home!

Hi
Grace,
My husband Mike Abadie told me about the Dobie/Rott puppy, of course you know my
heart stopped as I never thought I would find another. I was so blessed to have
the years I had with mine, he was as special as all my children, he was one of
my children. Please send photo's of him, though from what Mike has told me I
know I will love him no matter what. I am so excited I could just cry.
Do
you know his Birth date?

Hi
Grace,
Thanks for the info.......I was getting worried, I still can't believe I have
found Smiley I think this is one of those things that was just meant to be. It
is probably a 3 to 4 hour drive from Tallahassee to our home do you think Smiley
needs to be kenneled, we have a Yukon with plenty of room. Waiting patiently...

Hi
Grace,
We were finally able to get Smiley and Shadow together this afternoon after our
baseball game. We have only been home over an hour
and
the two of them are almost inseparable. They just wont leave each other alone it
is so fun watching them play. KC my 6 year old beagle is staying as far away
from them as possible, she does not play much and would prefer to just eat and
sleep. I think Smiley found him a good home. Thanks again......

Hi Grace,
Smiley is making himself at home. He is just super; the boys love him. Going to
take him to the vet tomorrow, if you could send his Vets name and number that
would be super. Smiley wont go outside by himself he wont go into any of the
bedrooms alone and wont step a foot into any of the bathrooms, he has followed
me around since day one even though the first thing we did was get a bath. I am
absolutely thrilled at the fact that he loves to cuddle, I love snuggling with
my dogs but, Shadow has an extreme case of hip dysplasia and he went from
sleeping in the bed to sleeping in a chair in our room. Its very sad to watch
him wobble and struggle to get up and walk. KC my beagle, she is a typical woman
and only wants you when she has time for it, so Smiley is the answer to my
prayers, you just don't know how long I have been praying to find him. Every
thing happens by the Grace of God.
In the past year I have received 4 unexplainable/unbelievable miracles/gifts
from God, the gift of Smiley could be explainable or believable but, I choose to
believe not, he is gift #5. Didn't mean to drag on just had to let
you know Smiley has touched all of us.
