Travel Planning – Common Questions

 General:

1.      What are the rates for each hotel and campsite and what packages are available?

Travel Packages starting at $170 per person double occupancy.

Travel packages consist of:

·         3 nights accommodations at a Walt Disney Worldâ Good Neighbor Hotel;

·         2 Day Value Pass – The 2-Day Value Pass entitles you to a choice of 2 of the following (none chosen more than once): 1 day of admission to the Magic Kingdom® Park, 1 day of admission to Epcot®, 1 day of admission to Disney-MGM Studios, or 1 day of admission to Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.

2.      What if I want to come earlier than the 26th of March or stay later than the 31st?

Disney Sports Travel can customize travel packages to include additional accommodations. Call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810.

3.      Are there long term rental facilities available – such as apartments or condos (for folks coming from overseas)?

Upon request, Disney Sports Travel will secure long term rental facilities as available. Call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810.

4.      Which hotel is the host for this event?

The Ramada Inn Resort Maingate.

5.      How far is the hotel (or campsite) I’ve selected from the airport?

About 15 miles or so.  Maps will be sent to everyone who has an entry in the show. In addition, maps will be available at the show website, www.gulfstreamrottweilerclub.org.

6.      What kind of transportation is available to the hotel (or campsite) from the airport?

Disney Sports Travel can assist those guests traveling without dogs in securing transportation from the airport to their Walt Disney Worldâ Resort property or Walt Disney Worldâ Good Neighbor Hotel. Call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810.

 Much of this show will require you to drive short distances for events. We recommend that you rent a vehicle for this purpose.

7.       How far is the hotel (or campsite) from Disney’s Wide World of Sportsä Complex, where the dog show is being held?

About a ten-minute drive, even if the traffic is heavy. Maps will be sent to everyone who has an entry in the show. In addition, maps will be available at the show website, www.gulfstreamrottweilerclub.org.

8.      What kind of transportation is available from the hotel (or campsite) to the show site?

At this time, no plans have been made to provide transportation from the hotels and campsite to the show site. If you do not have transportation, it is strongly recommended that you rent a vehicle for this purpose.

9.      Will I be able to use my golf cart for this purpose?

Use of a golf cart within the confines of the Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is permitted.  However, use of a golf cart as transportation to Disney’s Wide World of Sportsä Complex is not permitted.

10.  Where will the special show events (herding, tracking, obedience, agility, carting, etc.) be held?

Conformation, agility, carting and obedience, as well as some special events will be held at Disney’s Wide World of Sportsä Complex.  Your premium list will provide the exact location and directions to other events that are part of this Specialty.  For instance, tracking will be held in a location near Orlando International Airport, while herding is being held in Malabar, Florida (Location may change).

11.  How far is (the location of the particular event) from the hotel (campsite)?

Your premium list will include this information.

12.  What kind of transportation is available from the hotel (or campsite) to that site?

At this time, no plans have been made to provide transportation from the Sports Complex to these events. It is strongly recommended that you rent a vehicle for this purpose.

13.  How much will it cost to get into the events?

If you do not have an entry in any Specialty event, a general admission ticket may be purchased at Disney’s Wide World of Sportsä Complex ticket office for $9.75 for adults and $7.50 for children.  The Length of Event ticket is available as well for $31 for adults and $22 for children.  It provides admission to the Complex for the entire event, March 26-31, 2002. The Length of Event ticket can be purchased via Disney Sports Travel with your package or at the Sports Complex Box Office.  (See also question 14 below.) 

For those traveling with dogs:

1.      Which hotels and campsites take dogs?

The host hotel, Ramada Inn Resort Maingate and the Masters Inn Kissimmee, as well as designated campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810.

2.      How many dogs can I have in my room/campsite?

Up to four crated dogs are allowed per room or campsite.

3.      What are the fees associated with having dogs in the room or at the campsite?

The Ramada Inn Resort Maingate requires a refundable $75 deposit PER ROOM.

The Masters Inn Kissimmee requires a nonrefundable $20 deposit PER DOG.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground requires a nonrefundable $5 PER CAMPSITE. 

4.      Is there good grass for dog walking at these facilities?

Yes, your host clubs have checked these sites out and determined there is plenty of space for walking dogs.

5.      Can I use my golf cart or bicycle as transportation at these facilities and between these facilities and the show site?

Use of a golf cart within the confines of the Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground is permitted.  However, use of a golf cart as transportation to Disney’s Wide World of Sportsä Complex is not permitted.

We strongly recommend you rent a vehicle for this purpose.

6.      Can I use my golf cart or bike to exercise my dog at the campsite?

Yes, be advised that the dog must remain leashed.

7.      How will I get my dog back and forth to the events?

At this time, no plans have been made to provide transportation from the hotels and campsite to the show site. If you do not have transportation, it is strongly recommended that you rent a vehicle for this purpose.

8.      Can I crate my dog overnight in the show facility?

No overnight dog crating will be allowed at the show facility.  But, we recommend you leave crates set inside the show facility.

9.  Can I leave my dogs in my van outside the show facility?

There will be plenty of room provided in the show building to crate your dogs during show hours. We encourage you to use this option. You will receive special instructions for getting your dog and crate into the show building when your entries are confirmed.

Dogs may only be left within a vehicle if that vehicle’s engine is left running with the air conditioning on.

10.  Can I fly my (big) dog to the event via which airline?

Please call Disney Sports Travel at 407-939-7810 for a referral to the appropriate airline.

11.  Can I rent a van that will carry dogs in crates?

Mini-van and passenger van rentals are available through Disney Sports Travel.  For cargo van rentals, please contact your preferred car rental company directly.

12.  How much will it cost to get into the show site?

If you have a dog entered in any specialty event, you will be provided credentials that allow you into the show site free of charge. These tickets will allow you to pass through the turnstiles outside the Milk House (formerly the Field House) where most of the show event are taking place.

13.  How many event credentials (show entry passes) will I get per entry?

You will get three credentials (good for the duration of the show) for each entry. These are for you, your handler and anyone assisting you with you dogs. What if I have more than one entry?

You will be issued the number of credentials you require up to three per entry.
